Kenneth L. Dryden, Sr. was born and raised in Wilmington, DE (communities of Southbridge and Eastside). He is a 1974 graduate of Pierre S. DuPont High School. He later went on to take courses at Delaware Technical Community College.

After graduating high school, Kenneth joined the United States Marine Corp and Reserves where he served as Heavy Field Artillery Operator until receiving an honorable discharge in 1980.

  Kenneth became a member of Local Union 199 in 1976 as a Laborer/Foreman on various projects such as the Hercules Building, Wilmington Trust Building, Chase and Getty Oil Refinery. He became a Conductor with Conrail in 1993. In 1999 he began his career with the Delaware Transportation Corporation as a Rail Specialist and Facilities/Planner Coordinator.

  He is known in the community for his outstanding contributions to youth and sports. He led the development of the WEMA Baseball league, where he mobilized his former classmates, community and business leaders as sponsors or coaches of the teams. He prides himself most with coaching Chris Joyner team to back to back championships.

  He serves in key leadership positions with the State NAACP; Former Vice President of Wilmington Branch and currently Chairperson of State Economic Development Committee.

  Kenneth is founder and president of the Minority Workforce Development Coalition. He is an active member of the Delaware Concerned Resident for Environmental Justice, Chair of Delaware CBA Coalition Inc. and a Commissioner of the Delaware Africa Caribbean Affairs Commission.

  Kenneth is married to Octavia Dryden with two adult sons and three grandchildren.
